Here are a few tips to help deal with change more effectively:
Focus on your values instead of your fears. By doing this you will be able to weather the storm with greater ease.
Fight with change to make it work rather than fight against it. Focus on what you can control.
Having personal memories of when you overcame change and it resulted in a positive can help ease current fears.
Be open to new challenges and relationships, as it will create a support system for you as you adapt.
Changes in athletics happen often and they vary from athlete to athlete. Some athletes change positions, change sports, experience coaching changes, or transfer to new schools! Change is an inevitable part of athletics, as you will experience either small changes or big changes, but situations and circumstances will change and you have to be able to adapt and pivot when this happens.
Adapting to change is important for athletes because it is inevitable, and in order to adapt you have to be open to accepting changes. Adapting can be a hard process as there are new fears, anxieties, and issues that may cause stress, but it is important to not stress about the stress. As you continue to go through your change process, you will become more familiar and more comfortable as time goes on. Be intentional about adapting so you can be the best version of yourself to produce athletically and academically and to ultimately impact the people around you in a positive way.
